When M decided to leave his secure job of fourteen years at the OSU Branch Campus and become a restaurant manager, things were a little scary around here. My fear was the unpredictability of the restaurant business. His was proving to himself and everyone there that he could change this particular restaurant around and bring it back to what it used to be.
M has always been somewhat of a pessimist, where as I am an optimist. He would bring home his worries about sales, what specials to run, what should he do about a certain employee, or any complaint that he may get from a customer. I would reassure him that things WILL work out and everything will be OK.
That's when I found this quote in Guideposts Magazine.
It's from Norman Vincent Peale.
"The negative thinker tends to draw back to himself negative results, while the positive thinker activates the world around him positively."
I hung it on the cupboard door.
That was five years ago.
It still hangs there today.
Now, there is also a second copy that hangs in the office of the restaurant that M and his brother opened two and a half years ago.
See where a little positive thinking can get you?
How do you think, Internet?
